Regal Marketplace in Whitman has become a town staple where customers can find the highest quality offerings of groceries, hot foods, baked goods, beer, wine and spirits. The Vemis family did not build this business overnight. Their success is the result of hard work, forward-thinking advancements, and the friendly service their customers can expect each time they step through the doors. As they celebrate their 25-year anniversary, we had the opportunity to connect with Director of Operations, Tom Vemis, on the importance of this milestone and how South Shore Bank has been by their side along the way.
Tom’s family who are first generation immigrants to the United States from Greece bought the previous market in 1998 and have never left. Since 1998, they’ve solidified their presence in Whitman and the surrounding communities. In 2015, Regal Marketplace made a large transition as they expanded from a 5,000 sq. foot operation into a 20,000 sq. foot operation. Tom said they’ve always had a motto - “Experience the difference. We always strive to give the customer the best experience possible when shopping with us. We curate the best possible selection and ingredients, we host tasting events showing off the hottest new products and provide exemplary service all under one roof”.
Regal Marketplace joined the South Shore Bank client list a few years ago and is here with us for the long haul. During our time with Tom, he told us, “We love loyalty and consistency. When we make a change, we do it for the long term. A friend of ours who worked at South Shore Bank referred us, and through that word of mouth we switched. We absolutely loved what we saw, we loved it so much that we brought all our personal and business banking needs over to South Shore. We don’t feel like a number here. The convenience of mobile banking is great for our business, and we also appreciate the ability to go into a branch to interact with tellers who know us by name. We truly feel supported in our goals.”
