South Shore Bank President and CEO Jim Dunphy was honored by the Quincy Lions Club at its annual ‘Evening for Sight Gala’ at the Tirrell Room in Quincy. During the gala, Dunphy was presented with the Francis X McCauley Community Service Award. This award is presented each year to a local "unsung hero" who demonstrates a commitment to service for others and their community. Dunphy, a Quincy resident, is well known for his community involvement and support of various charitable organizations, in tune with South Shore Bank’s philosophy of sharing success.
The Quincy Lions Club is the local chapter of Lions Club International, a charitable foundation that zeroes in on supporting five grand causes across the globe: diabetes, vision, hunger, environmental protection, and childhood cancer. The Lions Club has set ambitious goals and consistently recognize business and community leaders, such as Mr. Dunphy, who go out of their way to help achieve those goals.
“We are absolutely thrilled to honor Jim Dunphy, who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism and giving back for the betterment of our community.’ said Quincy Lions Club President Kris Richardson Smith. “Jim is a true leader in our community, always ready to support those in need and willing to put in the hard work needed to generate more support from business leaders like himself. South Shore Bank, under the leadership of Jim Dunphy, is a bank with heart and we are proud to recognize his contributions to our community.”
“I have been given a great opportunity to lead an outstanding organization and team that gives us a chance to give back to the community,” said Jim Dunphy, “giving back is one of the best parts of my role.”
The Quincy Lions Club held its 2023 ‘Evening for Sight’ gala at the luxurious Tirrell Room on Quarry Street in Quincy. It was a lively affair that included raffles, auctions, a grand dinner and, eventually, Dunphy’s reception of the McCauley Award. The event was sponsored by Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch, the Manet Community Health Center, Quirk Auto Dealers, and others.
